Here is exactly what moves the number, so you can estimate your own project before you talk to anyone.

If you have asked three studios for a product photography quote in Chennai, you have probably received three very different numbers, and possibly three different pricing structures too. Per image, per SKU, per day, per project. It can feel like the industry is being deliberately vague.

It isn't, or at least it shouldn't be. Product photography pricing follows a logic, and once you understand it you can estimate your own project fairly accurately, compare quotes on equal footing, and spot a quote that is cutting corners. This post explains that logic the way we apply it at our studio in Pallikaranai.

It starts much earlier, often before manufacturing begins. Until now, ColoursAlive could only serve part of that journey. That changes today with this strategic tie-up with Nabina Ghosh Creative Services & Ideas (NGCSI).

I'm pleased to announce that ColoursAlive is now offering 3D product visualisation through a partnership with Nabina Ghosh, a senior advertising and branding creative with 28 years of experience in the industry. Nabina's background spans top Indian ad agencies and over a decade of freelance work with brands across verticals. Her 3D visualisation work brings a rare combination: advertising discipline, design sensibility, and technical expertise.

One might think that the amount reclaimed would be small, but in fact, the reality is that the amount being left behind can be quite substantial, amounting to 10, 15 or even 25% of the amount spent in the country.

We have to scale up, create templates, and automate workflows. An intimate knowledge of photography tools, from cameras, to file transfers, right until final delivery is important.

During a recent spate of photoshoots, we have had to implement all these, and more, to ensure that our clients received high quality images for their brand launches. While I would love to say that everything went according to plan, I can’t. Because there were hiccups, delays, and mistakes.

It was disturbing, and it ruined a potential friendship. I'm going to outline how it happened in this article, so that other photographers don't get fooled by these scam artists. What they do is disgusting, and exploitative. They have no heart, and I don't want them to hurt others who work hard to earn their money. These scammers use easily available disposable cell phone numbers, and UPI accounts, to target their victims.

It all started with me needing some assistance. I had reached out to a number of photographers and assistants over the previous days, and got to know them a little. It was important to me that I get to know them, because I would be working closely with them over the next few days, and probably weeks.

Because photos can make or break a sale, it's critical to invest in high-quality images that showcase the best aspects of your products. Customers will avoid websites with blurry or poorly lit images, but professionally taken photos can help increase conversion rates and increase your bottom line.

In our thinking, eCommerce photography is about truth and efficiency rather than glamour, although there is a meeting point of the two that we strive to achieve… There are various factors that allow for this… Time, budget, and availability of various resources all play a role in this balance.

Each brand needs to determine the balance between efficiency, truth, and glamour. Ultimately though, the customer will decide whether this balance is what they wanted, and they will vote with their credit cards.

The idea was to be able to record voices in good quality when making interviews. Exploring its capabilities, I was struck by the difference between my voice as I heard it daily, and what I heard through the microphone.

In the years that have followed, I've developed an intrigue for microphones, headphones, audio recording tools, plugins and audio equipment.

That innocuous little update (12.0.0) messed up my work for quite a while. Files that I'd worked on just hours before didn't open anymore. Library files were not working. Essential Graphics Templates that I'd been using didn't work. Instead it showed the red "media offline" screen. I couldn't import the files from Adobe After Effects either. It said that I should install a licensed version of AE. WTH!? I already had one. And it was already running on my computer without issues, so why was Premiere throwing this error? The usual (and most popular) fix that I found on the internet was to open a create a new project in Premiere Pro and then I was stuck! Big Time!

It look me a while to work through how to fix it. A couple of weeks. I thought it was my computer first. I thought my upgrade to Windows 10 had messed up my installation of Premiere Pro (I'd upgraded just a week before but everything was working fine). Yes, it didn't make sense, but any port in a storm, right?

To check the location of certain key features against those on a map, to ensure that you actually are where you think you are on the map, and then get back to moving towards your destination. This is how life must be treated too, I have found.

For me, this happened last December (2014). It was a time to look at the industry and understand where it was going, and look at me and my skills and understand where I was going, and where I wanted to go. The picture in my head didn't match where the map told me I was, and where I was going. This was disconcerting. So I decided to look around and find my direction once again before restarting my journey.
These days I'm looking around more often to make sure I'm on the right course. As a result, my course corrections aren't as big as they needed to be in the past. That is comforting.
You'll see this course correction in the content of this blog, and my other online properties as I start adding more content. I will also be making larger, and more apparent changes.

It's a YouTube channel that explores the streets of Chennai, and beyond.
I've ridden the same bike for 11 years, and been through quite a few silly incidents with it in that time. Like this one. Through it all, one experience that has not been diluted is the experience of travelling on Indian roads. If anything, it has only become more intense.

"Biking In India" is one of the new wave of Indian Moto Vloggers who have started posting their videos on YouTube. Take a look at the channel trailer. I think it summarises this motovlogger's channel quite decently.

Coromandel SAS is a company based in Colombia in South America. They are a comprehensive Business travel and travel services company. Coromandel SAS aims to bring about a shift in the travel services paradigm in Colombia. Mr. Mano Chandra Dhas, is bringing his extensive travel and business travel experience from companies like BTI and Emirates from UAE to the Colombian city of Bogota.

Coromandel SAS brings VAT Recovery Services, Holiday Tours to Colombia, and detailed itineraries and travel tips, in the blog section. This unlikely combination of extremely niche business services, coupled with holiday travel and tours for the sight-seeker reflects Mr. Chandra Dhas’s passion for travel and business. He’s an avid traveller having visited many countries across the globe. He brings his travel experience (both behind the curtain as a professional, and as a traveller himself) to bear, to help provide an amazing level of service, no matter whether you’re a business or an individual… You can rest assured that you will be well taken care of with Coromandel SAS.

Photography has always been a passion of mine. Over the years, I've done a number of commercial photo-shoots, for various clients, but I've never had a website to showcase my work. Now, I've begun work on a website to showcase my commercial photography work, in the spheres of product, industrial, architectural and interiors, food & beverage and sport photography. As of now, it's still under construction, and you'll see many changes in the months to come.

The images I have up right now don't have a comprehensive representation of my work, just some Parkour and Architectural images. Stay tuned for more updates.

Of course, it seemed like the easiest thing in the world back then... But then, in 2010, the world still had Kodak films in production.
Now, allow me to show you the truly simplest way to install a drupal and add contrib modules - Drush. Of course, Drush allows for even more automation, but this workflow is quite sufficient for me at this time. It's quite simple to install Drush on a Dreamhost Shared account with SSH.
Target folder - home/coloursalive.com

I think most people are likely to pay most attention to the google plus announcement, with it's promise of 'circles', hangouts, sparks and more... However, I think that the Google home page and the SERPS layouts are going to play a key role in the way people look at SEO and web design technologies in the future. As with everything else, there's no looking back, and the future is just going to get more complicated. Accept it; move on...

It's supposed to make filing and sharing of accounts between systems easier for everyone... Of course, there will be the initial hiccups in the implementation, and where there is a problem, there will be someone with a solution. Some companies provide managed tagging of Financial documents, converting them into iXBRL format that is compliant with the filing authority's needs... A great help if you feel that you need a bit more time to come to terms with the new regulations.

It's easy, it's simple, and it gets your drupal install up and running in less time than it takes to say "Upload via FTP". If you want the solution right away, scroll down to the bottom if this post.
I've recently had to install drupal a number of times in a span of a few days. The way I usually do it - download tarballs, extract, create file structure, upload via ftp - was just too slow. Fortunately I have shell access to my shared hosting account on DreamHost, so here's what I've been doing recently.

I hope you find this time saving shortcut useful. The code is not mine. I found it on WebHostingTalk.com in a thread titled How do you untar multiple .tar.gz files? I was also helped along by a good friend who does not want to be named. Experiment and see what works best for you.

The long overdue demise of IE6 has begun in earnest... Google today mailed Google Apps admins stating that they would be phasing out support for legacy browsers, including Internet Explorer 6 in order to provide quicker and more sophisticated services to their users.

Dear Google Apps admin,
In order to continue to improve our products and deliver more sophisticated features and performance, we are harnessing some of the latest improvements in web browser technology. This includes faster JavaScript processing and new standards like HTML5. As a result, over the course of 2010, we will be phasing out support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 as well as other older browsers that are not supported by their own manufacturers.
We plan to begin phasing out support of these older browsers on the Google Docs suite and the Google Sites editor on March 1, 2010. After that point, certain functionality within these applications may have higher latency and may not work correctly in these older browsers. Later in 2010, we will start to phase out support for these browsers for Google Mail and Google Calendar.
Google Apps will continue to support Internet Explorer 7.0 and above, Firefox 3.0 and above, Google Chrome 4.0 and above, and Safari 3.0 and above.
Starting this week, users on these older browsers will see a message in Google Docs and the Google Sites editor explaining this change and asking them to upgrade their browser. We will also alert you again closer to March 1 to remind you of this change.
In 2009, the Google Apps team delivered more than 100 improvements to enhance your product experience. We are aiming to beat that in 2010 and continue to deliver the best and most innovative collaboration products for businesses.
Thank you for your continued support!

It had to happen...

This would eventually stop expansion in some regions and cause them to start to recollapse. As they were collapsing, the gravitational pull of the collapsing region got smaller, it would spin faster - just as skaters spinning on ice spin faster as they draw in their arms. Eventually, when the region got small enough, it would be spinning fast enough to balance the attraction of gravity, and in this way disklike rotating galaxies are born.

The Vandalur Zoo has a website. Admittedly, a pretty boring one, with limited information about their new features, such as the night safari (which I wanted info about).
If you're wondering how to navigate the website and understand all that it has to offer, the best way would be to visit the zoo's sitemap. The best bits about the website are the cryptic url (http://www.aazoopark.gov.in/) and the yahoomail contact address (aazp@yahoo.com).
Really, the Indian Government and it's agencies should go to advertising / marketing workshops.

However, Parkour in Chennai, India is still in its infancy, and I've yet to meet anyone who's teaching themselves the basics.
If anyone knows of the guys in Chennai who are gutsy enough to jump of buildings and stuff, call me. :D or shoot me a mail at susheel[dot]c[at]gmail[dot]com.
Cheers!

I just give it a tweak on the throttle and glide down the road.
It's taught me a couple of things.

Feel free to mix up your bike-riding techniques from time to time. Try it out sometime, but remember, it may not be good for your bike's engine. I'm no mechanic. Also, you've got to becareful if you try this in traffic. It could get dangerous.
WARNING: This could be dangerous to life and limb. Try it at your own risk, and even then, only if you have at-least two years of frequent bike-riding experience.

I'm quite happy with the design. The emphasis is on the imagery, because that is what the entire affair is about. High quality video coupled with some <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20190625113621/http://www.margazhiraagam.com/the-artist.html" title="Bombay Jayashri and T.M. If you're a big fan of Carnatic Music, this is a must-watch. Check it out when it is released in theatres on the 18th of December this year. Meanwhile, you can have a Preview of Margazhi Raagam in HD right here.
Do leave a comment to let me know what you think of the website.

Note: The Margazhi Raagam website is no longer online. ColoursAlive designed and built it in 2008 to support the theatrical release of this high-definition Carnatic music concert film. The links above point to archived versions.

Now, my playlists have a number of songs that I play really often, and others that I play rarely, if at all... When I select a song that I like and press the Genius button, iTunes brings up a playlist that seems to based on the kind of song that was selected, similar in terms of genre of music, or artist, but varied in terms of BPM (Beats Per Minute), my rating of the song, and the number of times the songs have been played. I've beeing using this feature for a while now, and its only created playlists that have been interesting. So far, its never mixed up genres, or moods (and I have a varied set of music ranging from Classical to Pop to Classic Rock to Metal).
Genius does list out my music and upload it to Apple's servers, but presumably this is in order to match the music together and to provide me with suggestions in the accompanying Genius bar on the side. However, when I log in to the Indian iTunes Store (which does not sell music), the bar helpfully suggests that it close itself, because there are no suggestions from my country's store. I just wish that they start selling music on the Indian store, instead of just iPhone Apps.
Good going, Apple.

For all the jackass tricks that we have to work out to get our sites working for IE6 users. For the stupidity of not upgrading the browser to standards compliance over time ... and in general, for making the internet look downright ugly and purposeless...
And as a result, I've vowed never to stoop low enough to put in any extra code just to make IE6 work like it should have in the first place. That's for my own sites... If my clients want bugs fixed in IE6, well, that's a different story. They cant turn their clients away...
Now you know why I truly, truly, hate Internet Explorer 6.
(Sigh)
Here are some truly brilliant browsers, if you ever feel like using them (please do, they're all free, much quicker and safer than Internet Explorer 6) :

Use any of them... Just dont use Internet Explorer.

They've added iCal's CalDAV support. So you can now sync upwards from iCal to gCal; that is, you can add an event in iCal and have it shown. Find out how to synchronise Google Calendar with iCal at their Getting Started page.
There are some issues though... According to Google:

Well, now that does not help our notification issues... but atleast you can see what your schedule is going to be like. Hopefully Google and iCal will get these two apps working well together. I for one will be really happy when they do.

Google's Adsense has done something that I'm not particularly happy about. Its gone and added scroll buttons on each of their text ads. This means that people can view more ads on my site (maybe this is actually good for me!) but distracts them from the reason that they're at my website ... my content!
Click on the image above to see it full size. It's a screen shot from Technorati
Now, this is a screen capture from my website www.beyondphototips.com and as you can see, the arrows just above my comments box are a bit distracting.
Of course, over time people will stop noticing the buttons and just get on with their lives, and yes, Google is just trying to attract more attention so that they can get more clicks...
But that does not mean that I have to like it! Now, unless I see a significant rise in revenue from Google, on a daily basis, I may just remove all the ad sense ads...
What do you think? Would you remove your adsense ads just for this reason? Do let me know in the comments!
Update: Look, Its for real! Problogger had a post about it too!
PS: This blog has been on WordPress 2.5 for a while now, and I should say that its been great. Yes, I've had some inconsistencies in the plugin upgrades (some of you may have noticed some issues), but writing this post was a breeze.
I'm a fan!

Being a purported fan of typography and related areas, I had to join in the quest.

Our only lead was the information that the newspaper's headquarters were in Triplicane, a Muslim dominant area of Chennai. We were in an area where we knew there was an open wi-fi connection, so we headed over to the hot-spot, pulled out my Mac Book Pro (which I happened to be carrying) :D and did a search on the internet. Fortuitously, we found this photograph of their front door, which had their address on it. We now had a destination!

I was searching for some articles to help me with a website that I'm designing when I was suddenly confronted with this warning page:
Now, I was surprised the first time around, so I just let it pass... (after visiting the link to StopBadware.org, of course!) Then I came across it again! Like so...
So I visited the site again. The home page details that Stopbadware.org has tied up with some majors, including Google, Lenovo, Sun Microsystems, AOL, Trend Micro, VeriSign and PayPal. And apparently Google has been showing the warnings for quite a while now, and I've been somewhere else in this universe...
They also seem to have some influential members on the Advisory Board and on the Working Group. Their blog also lists some interesting cases where software has been allowed to do bad things to your system, and you're not aware of it.

Has your blog or website been blocked by this notification? You're sure that you're not a malware producer or distributor... So, why has Google ranked you as one? It sure is discouraging people from visiting your website, so you need to get it sorted out quick.
Are you REALLY sure that you're not sending out badware to every person who visits your site? Take a look at what Stopbadware.org says in its FAQs -

It was to be held in Kerala, near Umesh's hometown, Ottapalam. He booked the tickets a month in advance. I wondered why. I found out a month later. It was 2 days before Pongal, that's why...
We left Chennai on the evening of the 12th of January, 2008. It was a Saturday and had been a full day for me. I packed my bags early in the morning, when I was leaving for office, carried it with me, and managed not to forget anything. Toothbrush, Shirts, Underwear, Formal shoes, everything was in the bag.
That afternoon, at office, we had a studio rental scheduled. Sudhan, a photographer introduced to us through Rajasekar, was hiring the studio to update the portfolio of a musician that he'd photographed a year or so ago. Sudhan is about my age, maybe younger, is losing his hair (like me) and is very conscious about the fact (I'm not). He asks me whether I'm getting some treatment for my hair-loss and I always reply, No.
Well, today Sudhan was carrying a bag that looked familiar. It was Rajasekar's bag that he'd taken a year or more ago, and "forgotten" to return. I called Rajasekar, as I usually do when Sudhan comes over, and put him on speaker-phone. Sudhan and I had a short funny chat with him, and then I casually invited Rajasekar over to "help" Sudhan out. Now, I'd forgotten about the bag...
A short while after the conversation, I noticed Sudhan looking a bit agitated and wondered why. He's usually very calm about a photoshoot. Especially one with a friend... So I tried to figure it out. It was then that the "camera bag" angle struck me. I called Rajasekar, told him that Sudhan was carrying his bag, and asked him to come over ASAP, because I was due to leave for the train station in 30 minutes.
It was then that Suresh called me. Suresh, like Rajasekar, is my classmate from Loyola College during my B.Sc. Visual Communication course. We, my Dad and I, had done a photoshoot for him some days before, and he wanted to come over to pick up a colour corrected version of the images. I told him that I was leaving, but I'd have the images exported and burned on a disc, ready for him. He said, "Great, I'll come over sometime soon."
I promptly forgot about it. Sudhan's model/client had come in and props, makeup staff and other unknown people started hanging around the studio/green room. Rajasekar's little mission was also getting interesting by then. He came in, and said Hi to Sudhan, then came over to my desk, I was a but busy so I told him to chat with Sudhan and that I'd be over with them in a few moments. They went out and started arranging the model's costumes, and props.
When I was done with my work for that evening, I went over to see what was happening in the studio. Rajasekar was looking at Sudhan's camera and lens ... ooohing and aaahing over it (he's wanted to buy a Digital SLR for a long time, and is a great photographer, but is just too lazy to do it).
Sudhan on the other hand was sweating it out. He looked to me like he was hiding the bag ... putting himself between the bag and Rajasekar's line of view. When he saw me, he jumped at the opportunity.
He told Rajasekar, "Why don't you go and see that website that Susheel was working on earlier... "
I asked them not to interrupt their conversation for my sake and went running down to the supermarket... It was then that I realised that I'd forgotten my deodorant ... And I cant possibly go to a wedding without my deodorant. I rushed down, picked up a bottle and rushed back up. I turned around and was greeted by two sights.

Rajasekar, who has no idea that Suresh is coming along, is pleasantly surprised...
Sudhan, is standing in the background, looking dejected.
3:49 PM: Me, I'm just... "Oh Damn, where's my bag?"; "Suresh, I'm going to export the stuff onto the desktop, I forgot ... you burn it, ok? It's all colour corrected..."; "I need to get to the station! I'm fifteen minutes late... Can anyone take me there?"
Rajasekar steps forward like the Hero that he feels like. "Hey, I'll take you to Kodambakkam station, you take the suburban train to Park station and cross the road, you'll be there in fifteen minutes"
I say, "Great, let's go..." wave goodbye to everyone, pick up the bag I'd packed that morning and rush off...
3:52 PM: Rajasekar is a maniac on a motorbike when you need to get somewhere quickly; scares everyone and the cop in the middle of the road half - no more than half- to death... So am I, but he knows that while I can dish it out, I just can't take it ... so he gets me to Kodambakkam station at a steady pace, his freshly oiled hair getting dusty in the process (I'm sorry da...).
3:59 PM: I got to the station's ticket counter just as a train eased up at the platform. It has been a couple of years since I last commuted by train regularly, and I don't have an idea of how regular the trains are, so I'm worried; I have only 50 minutes to get to Central. By bike, in traffic, its a 45 minute journey, easily...
4:00 PM (and a bit more): The train is leaving the station. I decide that getting stopped by a cop for riding the train without a ticket would be more disastrous than getting there a bit late, and stay in the queue for the ticket. A long queue. I'm worried; and the seconds seem like minutes (no, the minutes don't seem like hours - yet!)
4:06 PM: Finally, in the train, I can breathe... The train arrives at the next station, Nungambakkam, in about 5 minutes or less (15 minutes or more by bike) and I relax. I'm going to make it. I call my Dad as I realise a couple of things. My bike key is still in my pocket, and my Dad was supposed to use it the next day. I've forgotten the Deo... The all important deodorant. I'd bought it, and in the confusion between Suresh, Rajasekar, Sudhan and the time, I'd left it on my desk at office. Too late now.
I get down from the train at Park station. It is 4:25 PM now. The phone rings: its my Dad... The Deo is in my bag (God be praised!) and he's going home to get the spare key thats in the cupboard.
4:30 PM: I call Balaji, its the time that we agreed to meet at. He's at the station. So am I! (Possibly the first time ever! ) We assemble, I'm introduced to his brother Karthick, who almost pulled out (until Umesh told him that he better come to the wedding if he ever wanted to get married himself (I think)) and find our compartment (its a seriously long train!)
4:45 PM: We find our seats invaded by a Gang Of Girls, bags piled high, they don't know which seats are theirs, and are taking up way too much space. We put our bags in, and cram ourselves in too.
4:55 PM: I'm in the train, the Girls settle down a bit more... I go off to get a Coke. I need one.
5 PM (or somewhere there-about): We're off... Hurrah! Karthik settles down with the India Today that he had bought. Balaji is looking out the window. He helps identify some of the places that he grew up at. I'm wondering how to get ourselves some more space and get the Girls' bags off our seat.
5:15PM (or somewhere there-about): I get up, start moving bags around, putting them under seats, arranging them so that they're not on "our" side.
5:20PM (or somewhere there-about): All's well. Read about the rest of the journey and the wedding in part 2.

I was at the end of a pretty good day of architectural photography and was headed back to pick up my motorbike from one of the buildings that I had photographed. I had a bag with me, which had some papers, but was essentially empty. The car dropped me off at the gate of the building in which I'd parked the bike, and took off, back to the architect's offices with my Dad.
I happily went in to get my bike, anticipating the nice lunch that I was headed towards... Biryani... and I certainly was hungry... The car was headed off now. It was 3PM and I'd had my breakfast at 8AM that morning... (I usually have breakfast at 11AM and lunch at 3PM)
Well, as I walked towards my bike, I reached into the pocket of my jeans to get my bike key, they were not in the right back pocket, so I tried the left back pocket where I usually keep my office keys; they didn't seem to be there either. I figured that I'd put them into my bag; so I dug around into the bag... No luck... Wait; my Dad had them... He'd taken the bike out earlier... Quick, run outside (I knew there was no hope of catching the car, but still....) Ok, second option, call him on the phone and get him to turn the car around...
I take my phone out... and the battery is dead! I'd been playing around with the GPRS connection that I'd recently activated and I'd drained the battery last night. It was then that I had this sinking feeling... Sinking because I was stranded. I could get to a pay phone, but deep down, I knew that I had no money with me... Not a single Rupee; and all I needed was a Rupee to make that phone call. Oh wait, I had money... 500 Rupees, but it was all in one note, and no matter where I tried, I could not get anyone to change it for me in that locality.
I could buy something of a little higher value, but the shops in the area were only tiny tea shops and a food shack that made snacks. If I ate all the snacks I could eat, the bill would still come to only about fifteen rupees... and the guy there wouldnt have enough change anyway...
I decided to con the guy at the telephone booth. I went up to him and said I needed to make a phone call "Sure, go ahead..." so I picked up the phone and called my Dad and told him the entire story. He said he'd be there in 5 minutes. I pulled out the note and showed it to the shop keeper "I have no change for that note...", that's what he told me. "I thought so..." . I told him that my Dad would be there in a while and I'd pay him then.
10 Minutes later and still no sign of my bike key arriving. I went up to the phone booth: There's girl there now...
"Where's the guy?"
"He's sleeping"
"Well, I need to make a phone call..."
"Sorry, the phone is disconnected, he does that when he sleeps"
"What? I need to make a phone call now, it's an emergency!"
"Sorry, I don't know what to do!"
I took a look behind the counter, "All you have to do is plug in that socket, and it will work!"
"Sorry, he has to come!"
(Gimme a break!) Phew... Well, I did have my phone! And the charger was with me too...
"Ok, at least let me plug my charger into the power outlet!"
"I don't know... " she said, pointing to the wall sockets.
I took a look and found that all the sockets were full. "Ok, all you have to do is pull out that plug," pointing to a plug that belonged to the Radio "and plug my charger in. I need it only till I've made my phone call."
"Sorry, He'll have to come. I don't know."
I was getting sick of her by now, this was a girl who was old enough to know how to plug a charger into a wall socket. I decided to try the food joint.
"I need to charge my phone," I said, pointing to the free row of plug points.
The guy at the counter looked up & grinned at me. Recognising my plight, and the fact that I had no choice, he said, "Five Rupees"
I was stranded, yes, but I was not going to give in to his greed. I snarled at him in anger, like a wolf; the best I could without baring my teeth, and walked away, thoroughly disgusted! How on earth could a person take advantage of your situation like that? He called after me, asking me to go ahead and plug it in, but by then I was too enraged to know what I'd do if I turned back. So I just kept walking.
My Dad arrived a while after that, and I got my bike keys, but I didn't really recover from the episode until I got to that restaurant and had a good Biryani.
Note:
I'd intended to post this on the day that it happened, but I didn't finish the post. This incident happened a couple of months ago, but I can't really shake the feeling of helplessness that it left me with. I just can't imagine what being stranded on an island would be like. I just wish that if it did happen, that it would be with a beautiful "un-attached" woman who was around my age. Then I'd have to do something to show that I was capable. Then, and only then would I ever get off the Island. Not if I was alone...

Yes, you heard me right. I'm looking out for a tiny, pocket sized, point-n-shoot digital camera. I'm looking for something that's easy to operate, that lets me shoot at high ISOs (because I like to) and that has a manual mode that is not too difficult to operate.
Durability is a factor too, because, you see, this is going to be IN my pocket almost all the darn day... and that's not a very safe place, especially when I'm in the middle of a photoshoot. Resolution is a factor, though not so much... anything over 5MPX should be fine...
Any Suggestions?

Today's been a bit brighter, but still, its more cloudy than usual.
I like the rains. Especially when it rains this way, rains in the late evening, clears up at night, cloudy mornings with the sun not too bright, motorbike all washed and ready for a new day.
I tend to get a bit lazy when it comes to washing my bike. Its a rather eye catching model, but I just get lazy and cant seem to get myself to wash it down every other day, or even every other week. I just let it gather dust day by day and wait for the rains. You can imagine what it must look like in the summer. Ever been to the Sahara? Well, if you have, you'd know.
Well, here's an old picture of the darn thing, taken when the bike was almost new. Its a lovely silver 150CC Bajaj Pulsar. Not one of those bikes you can look at and let your lower jaw hang loose, but it does the job. I like to ride a bit fast now and then, feel the adrenaline pumping and the wind flowing past... it makes me loosen up a lot, and this bike is good enough for that. Fast, relatively agile though with an un-necessarily large frame and fuel tank.

It lets me sit back and watch, as my computer's wasted processing capacity gets utilised by their distributed computing core.
The folding@home project is trying to unravel the mysteries of how, proteins, the basic building blocks of our body, fold into various forms so that they can perform a vast multitude of tasks. Simulating this would usually take many years of computer time, or very expensive "super-computing" time.
The folding@home project has effectively harnessed the unused computing power of thousands of desktop computers to solve this problem. The basics are better explained by the experts, so I'll leave it to them. If you have questions, they have a comprehensive FAQs Listing.
You can be part of this project simply by downloading and installing their client on your Macintosh or Intel PC, or even on the extremely powerful Sony Playstation 3. Interestingly, the Playstation 3 has the most interesting interface of them all!
Giving back to the community has never been simpler, I encourage all of you to do so.
Update: You're also invited to Join the Coloursalive team by entering the number 76256 in the folding@home client configuration box. You can also visit the team statistics at any point of time. Right now, its just me, but you're invited to the party, to help make those numbers grow.
