Zira - Triply & Ceramic Cookware Catalogues
Zira is a homegrown Indian cookware label making high-quality triply stainless steel cookware, sold direct to home cooks through shopzira.in and Amazon India. In March 2025 they came to us for the brand's first ever photo shoot: the white-background listing catalogue for their launch range of seven products, from the tope and tadka pan to the saucepan, frypan, kadai and biryani pot, each with its dark green soft-grip handles. However, the more immediate need was for their packaging imagery.
Packaging and launch catalogues carry more weight than a routine listing refresh, in our eyes. These images would be the brand's entire visual presence on day one: every product page, every marketplace tile, and the packaging itself, with the hero frames printed on the boxes each product ships in. They have to look great!
The backbone was disciplined white-background listing photography: consistent angles across the range, true colour, and enough control over the polished steel that every surface reads as metal, yet smooth, polished and pristine, instead of reflecting the studio around it. This is the usual challenge with polished metals. Polished triply is an unforgiving subject; every light in the room shows up somewhere on the vessel, so each product was lit to place its reflections deliberately. We used strategically placed diffusers in front of our studio strobes to get this look.
Lids were photographed separately and composited in during retouching. That gave us pristine lighting on both vessel and lid, and made the floating, lid-hovering hero frames possible. Close-up frames of the handles rounded out the set, the kind of texture detail a buyer zooms into before deciding the brand feels premium.
From the second shoot, January 2026: the ceramic non-stick line.
We shot tethered on Sony Alpha cameras in our Pallikaranai studio. For the first shoot the founder himself, Pratham Kawrath, was on set, reviewing the opening frames at and adjusting angles until the look was locked; once approved, we ran the rest of the catalogue to that standard. The images went through full retouching by our retouching team to produce the pristine polished finish.
Then came an instructive turn. Seen at its cleanest, the polish read as almost too smooth; the client felt the vessels looked less reflective than they are, almost like aluminium. The convention for stainless cookware imagery at the time signalled polish with hard black reflections, so our retouching team delivered a second variation, V2, with the darker gradation bands worked into every frame. Same photograph, two finished looks, and the client could choose per channel.
In January 2026 Zira returned with their ceramic non-stick line: tawa, frypan, kadai, paniyaram pan, and glass lids. This time the products were simply couriered across and we handled everything unsupervised. With the lighting language already solved from the first shoot, the second one ran significantly faster.
What we delivered
The catalogues went live on Amazon and on shopzira.in, doing the work launch imagery has to do: giving a brand-new label a visual presence that stands next to established names from day one. The same triply heroes were printed on Zira's retail boxes, so the launch shoot did double duty, on screen and on the shelf. The masters then took on a second life. Zira's team used them as the base for lifestyle imagery generated in Midjourney, adding steaming food inside the vessels while the product itself stays exactly as photographed. The fact that it looks similar to conventionally retouched images where only the food is added, makes this all the better. It is a clear picture of how AI and studio photography actually fit together: the AI variations are only as convincing as the master underneath, which is precisely why Zira invested in a proper shoot first.
